Good News from Schools
Muffins with Moms
Once again the Hawthorne Family paused for precious
moments before beginning daily routines. This time it was for moms.
Moms were encouraged to bring their appetites and their children to
school for Muffins with Moms. “Muffins with Moms is held twice a year
as a way for moms to come in and have breakfast with their
child/children before going off to work,” said Mrs. Chrisy Walker, PTA
President. She went on to say that it’s also a way to show appreciation
and encourage membership in the organization.
Approximately 50 moms had come in by 7:30a.m. to enjoy
muffins, pastries, fruit, and juice with students before they went to
class. It was obvious that it was ‘precious time well spent’ as families
ate, socialized, smiled, and hugged while relaxing in a welcoming
environment.
Mrs. Walker also paused for a moment to talk with Dr.
Wynton Walker, Hawthorne’s principal, and Mrs. Alisa Griffin, PTA
secretary, to discuss plans for the upcoming school year. Each has
expressed that the beginning has been exciting and filled with numerous
opportunities for the school and the PTA to interact. While Meet and
Greet Night brought out record numbers, PTA Open House was up close and
personal as staff members were introduced to parents before they visited
classrooms.
Not wanting to have the dads feel slighted, Mrs. Walker
emphasized that the PTA is also planning Donuts for Dads in November.
The date for this event has not been released yet. So, stay tuned,
Dads. You, too, will have the opportunity to bring your appetites and
stop in before going on to work.
