Army partners with Anderson Elementary

Anderson Elementary and local military leaders have joined to form a partnership that will assist the school with  student and institutional needs.

The partnership was formed on Nov. 19 and proudly announced at a brief ceremony with Col. Debra Grays and Principal Marsha Hood that included the Anderson Jewels, a student organization for girls that hosted the event.

"Anderson Elementary proudly welcomed Fort Gillem and Fort McPherson as a new Partner In Education," said Principal Hood.

"Col. Grays who had begun to work with Anderson last year was on hand to officially sign the partnership agreement."

Following the signing ceremony, Col. Grays toured the 461-student school before she returned to talk with students attending the ceremony. She fielded questions at that point from the Anderson Jewels that mostly pertained to her life and other females serving in the armed forces.
