RHS Parent Involvement Day
The pieces of the puzzle came together last month. In
coordination with the Raiders PTSA monthly parent lunch, the Riverdale
High School staff and students recognized National Parent and Community
Involvement Day.
Dr. Terry Young, principal, welcomed the parents and
expressed his appreciation to them, community members, and local
businesses for their involvement with the students of Riverdale High
School.
Mayor Evelyn-Wynn Dixon, and two SRO's from the city of
Riverdale, were present to address parents on the importance of parental
and community involvement in student success.
According to Kathy Cox, state superintendent of schools,
being involved in a child's education is not a part-time job; it is a
24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week pursuit that lasts throughout the year.
In general, great parent involvement means making sure your child knows
that you value his or her education more than anything else.
