The district congratulates four schools that received awards for the Greatest Gains for Students in 2009 under the Single Statewide Accountability System (SSAS). Awards are presented to schools that show excellence in student achievement and/or progress in student achievement.

These Greatest Gains for Students recipients are listed below:

Kemp Primary - Silver

Hawthorne Elementary -  Bronze

Morrow Middle  - Bronze

Rex Mill Middle – Silver 

Schools receiving a Bronze Award fall within the top 5% of schools in Georgia with the greatest gains in the percentage of students meeting and exceeding standards and at least 20% of students are exceeding the standard.

Schools receiving a Silver Award fall within the top 4% of schools in Georgia with the greatest gains in the percentage of students meeting and exceeding standard and at least 25% percent of the students are exceeding the standard.

The criteria are based on Full Academic Year (FAY) students and the results of the most recent two years of Criterion Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) (grades 1-8 in reading, English/language arts, math, social studies, and science).
