organization consisting of 31,000 members worldwide and dedicated to
supporting and promoting information technology in the military
information technology community. The purpose of the Science Teaching
Tool Grant Program is to enable teachers to purchase equipment and
supplies toward implementing a new project that effectively encourages
the development of students in the science and technology disciplines.
April Fluellen, Rex Mill
Science Department Chair continues to support her teachers’ pursuit of
innovative ways to teach science. As a result of her support, these
teachers completed an application process that included a description of
the class as well as the specific usage of funds. Rex Mill’s application
was reviewed by a panel that selected three applications from the county
that were then submitted for the district
Stevens and Hill will use $1000
to purchase supplies to incorporate robotics in the class. Mitchell will
use $1000 to have students design power cars using alternative fuels.
The awards will allow students to think about ways they could change
designs to overcome obstacles and create their own innovations. Rex Mill
is very proud of their science department and looks forward to all the
ideas that will come from this award.
