Principal at Tara is Duct Taped to the Wall for
Charity

Tara Elementary School Principal, Cynthia Dickerson, is
willing to go to the roof and against the wall to actively engage her
students in learning. Last year she promised to spend the night on the
roof if students met AYP. On August 27, she did just that. In February,
she came in close contact with duct tape for a charity fund raiser.
The students at Tara Elementary participated in a
fundraiser for Leukemia/Lymphoma Cancer Research, Pennies for Patients.
The Beta Club sponsored this fun activity called “Stuck for a Buck.”
For one dollar, each student received a strand of duct tape with which
they stuck Dickerson to the wall. As students left for dismissal on
Monday, Feb. 22, Dickerson waved goodbye. Some students were overheard
asking if she would still be there in the morning.
Dickerson was a wonderful sport about the whole thing,
but she did not stay on the wall until the next morning. The activity
raised over one thousand dollars for the charity!
