King Elementary Vists Washington, D.C.
The Martin Luther King Jr. fifth-grade Huskies had the distinct honor of
visiting the nation’s capitol, Washington, D.C., for their senior
trip. The students were able to see history come alive as they toured
national landmarks. During this fantastic voyage, the students visited
the White House, Arlington Cemetery, and the Capitol. Students also
visited the Air and Space Museum, the Smithsonian Institute National
Museum of Natural History, the National Aquarium, the Lincoln Memorial,
and the Wax Museum. For many students, this was
their first trip out of the state or their first stay in a luxurious
hotel. As the buses traveled back to Georgia, the King Huskies even
experienced a short snow storm! One student, who moved to Georgia from
Haiti this school year, had the pleasure of seeing snow for the very
first time. The success of this field trip adds foundational memories
for future academic success. The King Huskies look forward to a return
trip!
The students and chaperones took pictures to
remind them of the wealth of knowledge hidden in these highly
educational and fun places. To view the Huskies’ photos gallery
