Good News in Schools
|
Our unit (GA-792) celebrated its 33rd anniversary this year. This year will go down in our unit's
history as a bitter sweet year. From being selected as a Distinguished Unit to losing our Senior
Aerospace Science Instructor (Lt Col Johnny Snow) and Senior Master Sergeant Alberta Carter both
to retirement. During the school year our cadets were very active. We participated in 3 in-state
drill meets and the Nationals held in Montgomery Alabama. The senior cadet class sponsored the
program's first school wide clean-up day which was a huge success. Four of our cadets, (Heather
Dumas, Dikesheryl Willams, Stephen Young, and Wayne Woodhouse) were selected to participate in
the last official act of the school year. They were selected as members of a color guard team
for the graduation ceremony at Morehouse School of Medicine. To their surprise they got to stand
next to a civil rights legend, Dr. Andrew Young, who was the commencement speaker. Lastly, The
CCPS Air Force Junior ROTC Leadership School at Clayton State University, was a total success.
Looking forward to a brief summer vacation and another year at the "Dale."
