Third Year Standards
Standard 1:
Exchange spoken and written information and ideas in the target
language, with some spontaneity, utilizing cultural references where
appropriate. (MLIII.1)
Standard 2:
Understand spoken and written language on new and familiar topics
presented through a variety of media in the target language, including
authentic materials. (MLIII.3)
Standard 3:
Present (individually and/or in groups) information orally and/or in
writing using familiar and newly acquired vocabulary, phrases, and
patterns in increasingly complex sentences. (MLIII.4)
Standard 4:
Present student-created materials in the target language. (MLIII.5)
Standard 5:
Understand and discuss perspectives, practices, and products of the
cultures studied and how they are interrelated. (MLIII.6)
Standard 6:
Reinforce and broaden knowledge of connections between the target
language and other subject areas. (MLIII.7)
Standard 7:
Recognize similarities and differences that exist between the target
culture(s) and the students' own culture. (MLIII.8)
Standard 8:
Strengthen knowledge of the English language through the study and
analysis of the target language. (MLIII.9)
Standard 9:
Improve language skills and expand cultural understanding by accessing
information for recreational, educational, and occupational purposes,
outside the classroom. (MLIII.10)
