Ave Maria Tatum to be Formally Honored as Clayton County's 2010
Teacher of the Year
JONESBORO
- It will be a night of stars Thursday, November 19, at the Performing
Arts Center as Clayton County Public Schools pays tribute to district
wide and the school level 2010 Teachers of the Year.
The celebration, "An
Evening with the Stars," will feature a special recognition for each of
the 61 Teachers of the Year. Additional recognition will be given to the
district's six finalists (see list below) and to Ave Maria Tatum,
a kindergarten teacher at Mt. Zion Primary School, the 2010 CCPS Teacher
of the Year. Mike Brooks, co-anchor of the WGCL-TV (Channel 46) morning
news program, "Better Mornings Atlanta," will serve as the evening's
master of ceremonies.
The ceremony will begin
at 7 p.m. A reception honoring our Teachers of the Year will follow at
Mt. Zion High
School.

Ave Maria Tatum is
originally from Detroit, Michigan. She has been teaching for 10 years.
This is her 5th year in Clayton County and second year at Mt. Zion
Primary, as a kindergarten teacher. She previously taught 1st
grade for three years at Mt. Zion Elementary and taught for 5 years in
Michigan in grades K, 1, and 3. She earned her undergraduate
degree from the University of Michigan in Elementary Education, a master
in the art of teaching degree from Marygrove College, and is currently
working on a doctoral degree in teacher leadership at Walden University,
where she has also earned a specialist certification. She is married and
has two sons.
