District releases AYP information
Three middle schools and one
elementary school emerge from needs improvement
JONESBORO – Information released today by the Georgia Department
of Education (GaDOE) showed that four Clayton County schools emerged
from "needs improvement" status. The information was contained in the
2009-2010 Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) report.
Nearly 74 percent
of Clayton County’s schools achieved AYP during 2009-10. This translates
to 45 campuses. Schools emerging from needs improvement status are
Kendrick Middle, Mundy's Mill Middle, Sequoyah Middle, and Swint
Elementary.
"We applaud the
efforts of the students and staff members of all of our AYP schools for
their hard work and dedication to excellence," said Dr. Edmond Heatley,
Superintendent. "We offer a special salute to these four schools for
shedding the needs improvement label. Each has demonstrated that when
instruction is all about our children, we can achieve outstanding
results."
