Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week:
November 1st - 6th, 2010

November 1st - 6th, 2010 is designated as Homeless and Hunger Awareness Week in Georgia. This year's theme, "A Home for Everyone, Everyone in a Home," reminds us that all Georgia residents deserve a safe and adequate place to call home.

Each year, over 40,000 children and youth become homeless in Georgia. Our school system does an awesome job providing support to families experiencing homelessness. Our Homeless Education Department provides activities, services and support to homeless children and youth that enable them to enroll in, attend and succeed in school.

During this week of Homeless and Hunger Awareness, please join others in getting the word out that Homelessness is not someone else's problem, it is everyone's problem.

Wear your green/white ribbon as an indication of support that our school system is committed to minimizing the effects of mobility for homeless students and that we will continue to work with families to provide services that assist in maintaining a stable educational environment for homeless children and youth.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Sonia Davis
Coordinator of Homeless Education
