Parental Involvement

November is Parent Engagement Month in Georgia

Mark your calendars as November is Parent Engagement Month in Georgia and November 17, 2011 is National Parent Involvement Day! What a fantastic way to recognize the important role parents and families play in their child's education.

  1. Governor's Proclamation of Parent Engagement Month - Governor Deal has signed a proclamation marking November 2011 officially as Parent Engagement Month in Georgia.

  2. State Superintendent's National Parent Involvement Day Thank You to Parents

  3. Get the Facts, Get Connected, Get Involved! November Parent Calendars - In honor of Parent Engagement Month the GaDOE has created parent calendars for the month of November. The calendars provide parents with a tool to identify teachable moments at home and to promote parent engagement when participating in day-to-day activities with their children. Three specialized calendars have been developed for the parents of elementary, middle and high school students.

  4. Public Service Announcement's and Parent Video's - Last year in honor of Parent Engagement Month the GaDOE and the GA PIRC have teamed up with Georgia Public Broadcasting to create GET INVOLVED public service announcements and video scenarios (at home and at school across all grade levels) that capture real parent's telling their real stories around the 15 ways to get involved. The 15 videos and overall PSA's are available for download in English and Spanish.
