Georgia History Lesson Plans

  • Definitely visit the Georgia History site that accompanies the text.  It is full of activities, lesson plans, and links. Contact Michael Powell for password information.
     

  • The Secretary of State for Georgia has created a site which focuses on Georgia History and events within the state capitol building.  The site includes lesson plans, information packs and a link to their extensive archives.
     

  • Visit the Old Governor's Mansion in Milledgeville for a list of Lesson Plans for Georgia History teachers.
     

  • Education World has a list of resources on the topic of Georgia History including Virtual Tours, genealogy, and regional information.

     

  • McDougal Littell has compiled a list of links related to Georgia and its history.
     

Georgia History Activities

  • Georgia Tech and Georgia Public television have created a comprehensive Georgia History site to accompany their Georgia Stories program.  It includes lessons, resources, and video information.  Students can access password protected information by inputting the name: brown and the password: thrasher.   Contact Robert DeLuca or Michael Powell for passwords to the quizzes and teacher materials at this site.
     

  • Tour the Atlanta History Museum and its many exhibits which focus on Atlanta's place in Georgian and United States History.
     

  • View some of Atlanta's best skyscrapers and learn about their construction.
     

  • Yahoo! Atlanta provides web links for all sorts of local information, maps, weather information, and tourist sites.
     

  • The official State of Georgia Web Page contains information, statistics, and government links.

The United States of America  Activities

  • Congresslink.org has lesson plans, links, experts on-line, and activities related to the legislative process.   Peggy Caldwell at Morrow High School has conducted workshops on this site and can help you develop activities for your class.  E-mail her or call her at Morrow for more details.
     

  • Chart the history of Native Americans by going across your curriculum with this activity at Education World.
