Construction Technology and
Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity
Clayton County Public
Schools in partnership with Southern Crescent Habitat for
Humanity (SCHFH) has arranged for Construction Technology
students to participate in one of their latest projects.
On October 8-15, 2009, approximately 25 students representing
Forest Park, Jonesboro, Lovejoy, Morrow and Mt. Zion High
schools will volunteer to participate in the construction of a
habitat for humanity house in Irongate Street in Jonesboro,
Georgia. Our students will participate in a real life
application experience while helping to improve the lives of a
family in need.
The Career, Technical
and Agricultural Education department along with the
participating construction teachers have met with the
facilitators from SCHFH on numerous occasions during the school
year to coordinate the efforts and ensure a successful
experience of this hands-on community service project.
Clayton County’s Judge
Teske, the President to the SCHFH and other Clayton County
Commissioners will host a
kick-off
for this extraordinary event on
October 13th at
11:30 a.m. All members of the Clayton
County Public Schools Board of Education are invited to attend
and support this student-focused initiative.
