"Whatever It Takes"
Food Service Kitchen Equipment Department
The Food Service (Kitchen) Equipment Department mission is to support the academic success of the kids of the Clayton County Public School System by ensuring the District has the daily ability to deliver a warm nutritious meal on time and within budget. The work center falls under the direction of the Nutrition Department Director, but works closely with Maintenance personnel to deliver support. Staffed with 1-Supervisor, 2-Technicians and 2-Apprentices the Department maintains over 1200 pieces of commercial grade kitchen equipment at 74 campuses to include ovens, washer & dryers, mixers, hot serving lines, combo ovens, ice machines, warm holding cabinets, slicers, and can openers.
Additionally, the department is completing its third year of 24 hour remote temperature monitoring of the District's 66 walk-in coolers and 65 freezers, which protects on average $1 million dollars of frozen goods per day. The department proudly holds to the fact that they have not lost any frozen foods during this three year period. Working closely with kitchen staffs, the work center's contribution to the success of the District and the 50,000 students of Clayton County cannot be over stated.
