Wellness Committee

The Child Nutrition Act of 2004 and the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 specify that the challenge of fixing childhood obesity is a joint effort between USDA, school districts, their stakeholders, and the community at large.

The Clayton County Local Wellness Committee’s mission is to comply with the Child Nutrition Reauthorization Act and the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act which include goals for:

  • Nutrition education, physical activity, and other school-based activities designed to promote student wellness

  • Nutrition guidelines for all foods available on each school campus

  • Developing a plan to measure the implementation of the policy

  • Designating a wellness representative at each school to ensure that each school meets the Local Wellness Policy

Our work with the Clayton County Local Wellness Policy will be open and transparent to the public providing up-to-date information about all aspects of conception, implementation, & measurement. The Clayton County Local Wellness Committee resolves to post Committee Meeting Minutes online for review.
