SST
Student Support Team (SST) is a collaborative
problem-solving process utilized in each school. The purpose of
SST is to identify and plan alternative instructional strategies
for students experiencing academic, social, and/or behavioral
difficulties prior to or in lieu of a referral to more
restrictive programs.
The Student Support Team process is based on the
child study team concept and is a valuable asset to all
schools. SST allows teachers and parents to take advantage of
the collective expertise of a group of professionals and work
collaboratively to develop a plan for addressing the diverse
needs of students. SST is our best safety net for those children
who, for academic, cognitive, behavioral, emotional, social,
physical, or motivational reasons, are not performing adequately
in school.
Contact your school’s SST chairperson if you
have questions regarding SST.
