E.J. Swint Elementary was named after Edgar Jewel Swint; who was born in Orchard Hill, Georgia, on August 20, 1893. He began to participate in many worthwhile civic projects. Mr. Swint developed a vision of what lay in store for Clayton County and became a charter member of the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce. E.J. Swint Elementary opened its doors on August 30, 1969. The enrollment in 1969 consisted of 589 students; today our enrollment is approximately 650 students.
