Ms. Damaris Garrett
Damaris Perryman-Garrett is a native of Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Perryman-Garrett holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a Juris Doctorate from the Chicago-Kent College of Law, and a Master of Public Administration and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Mrs. Perryman-Garrett is licensed to practice law in both Georgia and Illinois, is a certified mediator through the Justice Center of Atlanta, and is a certified senior human resource professional.
Dr. Perryman-Garrett has been employed by the Clayton County Public School System since October of 2009. She currently serves in the role of Chief of Equity and Compliance, where she leads the district’s overarching equity work and manages various compliance functions related to legal affairs and risk management within the district.
Dr. Perryman-Garrett has been involved in a host of professional organizations, such as the American Bar Association, the National Bar Association, and the Illinois and Georgia State Bar Associations. In addition, she is a member of the American Society for Public Administration, the National Forum for Black Public Administrators, and the Society for Human Resources Management.
