Connection and Resilience

In this time where physical distancing and remote education has become necessary to slow the spread of COVID-19, social connection is more important than ever. We know it is crucial for our students to feel connected to a supportive community to support their well-being.

A strong sense of connection is necessary to create positive social, emotional, behavioral, and academic outcomes. It meets the basic human needs of building social bonds and feeling cared about.

Positive student relationships are fundamental to success. When students feel supported, they're more likely to engage in learning and have better academic outcomes. Plus, when students have positive interactions with adults, they have fewer behavioral problems. These relationships are more important and more challenging than ever in uncertain times, like during the coronavirus pandemic.
