Pre-Opening Checklist
New petitioners should use this checklist as a guide to ensure all requirements are met prior to opening a charter school.

Pre-Opening Suspension
If a charter school fails to comply with the terms of its charter contract, including completion of the Pre-Opening Checklist or any material provision that must be satisfied prior to opening, the school’s opening may be suspended. The suspension will remain in effect until all requirements have been fully met, as determined by the local district and the Department. A suspension of opening does not result in an extension of the charter term.

Closing Task List
In the event a charter school is not renewed, please refer to the Closing Task List to guide all required closure activities. Please note that both the Pre-Opening Checklist and the Closing Task List will be distributed to all charter schools, along with specific deadlines and designated points of contact, following charter approval or non-renewal.
