The McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act is the federal law that governs the educational rights of children and youth in homeless situations. This act was reauthorized under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) in 2015.

Student's Rights
Clayton County Public Schools shall provide an educational environment that treats all students with dignity and respect. Every homeless student shall have equal access to the same free and appropriate educational opportunities as students who are not homeless. This commitment to the educational rights of homeless children and youth applies to all services, programs, and activities provided or made available by the Clayton County Public Schools.
