Title I, Part A, Section 1003(a) School Improvement Grants provide financial resources to school districts on behalf of Title I schools identified as Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) and Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) schools. This grant is awarded to support implementation of school improvement plans required by the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and Georgia's Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) approved by the United States Department of Education.

  • Funds are utilized to support goals/priorities identified in the schools' improvement plans. 
  • Funds must be expended in alignment with the reporting, monitoring, and level of evidence as defined by ESSA.
  • Interventions supported with Section 1003 School Improvement funds must be based on strong, moderate, or promising evidence to improve student outcomes.

Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI)

  • CSI Lowest 5%: the lowest-performing 5% of Title I schools in the state when ranked based on their three-year CCRPI average
  • CSI Graduation Rate: high schools (Title I or non-Title I) with a four-year adjusted cohort graduation rate less than or equal to 67%
  • CSI Schools: Northcutt ES, Jonesboro MS, and Perry Career Academy

Promise Schools

  • Promise Schools: the 5.01% to 10% lowest-performing Title I schools in the state when ranked based on their three-year CCRPI average
  • CSI Promise Schools: Huie ES, Lee Street ES, Pointe South MS, and North Clayton HS

Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) Schools

  • TSI Consistently Underperforming Subgroup: all schools that have at least one subgroup that is performing in the lowest 5% of all schools in at least 50% of CCRPI components
  • TSI Schools: Marshall ES, Pointe South ES, Forest Park MS, and Morrow HS

Additional Targeted Support (ATSI) Schools

  • ATSI: among all schools identified for Consistently Underperforming Subgroup have at least one subgroup that is performing in the lowest 5% of all schools in all CCRPI components
  • ATSI School: Drew HS
