Tara Remy

Tara Remy is a native of Boston, Massachusetts, where she was born and raised. She attended private school through the middle grades before transitioning to and graduating from the Boston Public Schools. Tara earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Suffolk University with the initial intention of pursuing a law degree. However, during her final semester, she experienced a powerful shift in purpose—one that led her to discover a calling to teach. After much prayer and wise counsel, she enrolled at Lesley University, where she earned a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education.

Mrs. Remy dedicated 15 years to teaching in the Boston Public Schools before relocating to Atlanta. With over 25 years of experience in elementary education, she has served students and communities in the Boston, DeKalb, and Fayette County School Systems. Beyond the classroom, she has held several leadership roles, including ELA/Social Studies Content Lead, Tara’s Tiaras Girls Mentoring Program Lead, Paraprofessional Academy Lead, Response to Intervention Lead, and Student Support Team Lead.

Her excellence in education has been recognized through notable honors, including being named Tara Elementary School’s 2016–2017 Teacher of the Year and her selection as a participant in the prestigious 2020–2021 Governor’s School Leadership Academy.

Mrs Remy holds multiple professional endorsements, including Reading, Science, ESOL, and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). She also earned a Specialist Degree in Teacher Leadership from Thomas University. Her professional learning includes training in the Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS), the Science of Reading, and Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop, and TERC Math Investigations.

One of her most notable professional experiences was serving as the lab classroom for a districtwide literacy project in Boston. Teachers from across the district came to her classroom over the course of the year to learn from the experience for young writers. This initiative was the foundation for the book Talking, Drawing, Writing: Lessons for Our Youngest Writers, written by Maryellen Giacobbe and Martha Horn, in which Mrs. Remy and her class were featured. This recognition further affirmed her deep commitment and expertise in early literacy instruction.

As a Teacher Development Specialist, Mrs. Remy supports TAPP Teachers and teachers of varying experience throughout the district. She is an instructor for the Classroom Management Course and the Literacy Academy Courses.
