TeachNOW contract with Moreland University and New Teacher Induction (NTI) Academy

The Department of Exceptional Students (DES) is committed to ensuring that every classroom is led by highly qualified special education teachers. Our focused efforts have launched pivotal initiatives aimed at supporting educators on their journey toward special education certification and easing their transition into the classroom. Notably, DES has partnered with Moreland University to secure 40 slots for aspiring teachers aiming to complete necessary coursework for certification, with the inaugural cohort set to begin this fall. In addition to this certification support, the Department of Exceptional Students successfully partnered with Metro RESA for the second year to fully implement a New Teacher Induction (NTI) program during the 2023-24 school year, with 41 teachers completing the program.

These strategic partnerships not only aid in the recruitment and retention of qualified special education teachers but also ensure ongoing support through certification processes and mentorship. The impact of these initiatives is profound, enhancing teacher readiness and confidence, which in turn benefits our students by ensuring they receive high-quality instruction. These efforts underline our unwavering commitment to educational excellence and inclusivity across our school system.
