High School Counseling
The High School Counseling Program
The High School Counseling Program supports students in achieving academic success, developing strong social and emotional skills, and preparing for life after graduation. Professional school counselors work collaboratively with students, families, and staff to ensure every student graduates with a clear and achievable postsecondary plan.
Through academic advising, Individual Student Planning, and college and career readiness activities, counselors guide students in exploring opportunities aligned with their interests and goals. Students receive support with course planning, graduation requirements, college and career exploration, scholarships, and workforce pathways.
Aligned with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model, the high school counseling program provides a comprehensive, data-informed approach that helps students explore opportunities and develop a clear plan for life beyond high school.
Academic Planning
School counselors assist students with developing and monitoring their four-year graduation plan, selecting courses aligned with graduation requirements and postsecondary goals. Counselors also provide guidance on credit recovery, academic interventions, and strategies to support student success in rigorous coursework.
College, Career, and Military Readiness
Counselors help students explore pathways aligned with their interests, strengths, and future goals. Students receive support with:
-
College and university applications
-
Dual Enrollment opportunities
-
Career pathway exploration
-
Scholarship and financial aid information
-
Workforce and military options
Through tools such as Naviance and Individual Student Planning, students are encouraged to develop a clear and achievable postsecondary plan.
Social and Emotional Support
School counselors provide a safe and supportive environment where students can develop skills such as decision-making, goal setting, resilience, and effective communication. Counseling services may include individual student meetings, small group counseling, and classroom guidance lessons focused on personal growth and executive functioning skills.
Individual Student Planning
Counselors meet with students annually to review academic progress, update graduation plans, and discuss postsecondary opportunities. These advisement sessions help ensure students stay on track for graduation and are prepared for their next step after high school.
Family and Community Partnerships
School counselors work closely with families to ensure students receive the guidance and support needed to achieve their goals. Parent workshops, informational meetings, and college and career events help families stay informed about important milestones and opportunities.
Our goal is to empower every student to graduate prepared for the Four E’s: Enrollment, Enlistment, Employment, or Entrepreneurship.
