Update on Oliver Elementary School Power Outage

Earlier today Clayton County Public Schools’ (CCPS) Oliver Elementary Students and staff temporarily relocated to North Clayton Middle School (NCMS) due to a power outage caused by the impact of Hurricane Irma. According to officials at Georgia Power, full electrical power has been restored at Oliver Elementary School (OES). Oliver Elementary students and staff will remain at North Clayton Middle School until after lunch. Parents and guardians are reminded that students will be dismissed at Oliver Elementary at the regular time. We thank you for your patience throughout this transition process.

Due to a power outage caused by the impact of Hurricane Irma, Clayton County Public Schools’ (CCPS) Oliver Elementary Students will be temporarily relocated to North Clayton Middle School. According to officials at Georgia Power, partial power to the site has been restored, however, an underground cable was destroyed during the storm and will require additional work. The work is scheduled to be completed by 10:00 a.m. as projected by Georgia Power. Please see the following details at is relates to the relocation plans for Oliver Elementary School.

  • Students will be dropped off at Oliver Elementary School.
  • At approximately 8:30 am, students will board buses and be transported to North Clayton Middle
    School.
  • Food and Nutrition will have breakfast prepared and ready to serve students once they arrive at
    North Clayton Middle School. Students will also be served lunch.
  • Students will be transported back to Oliver Elementary School in the afternoon for parent pick-up
    and/or to board their assigned buses and transported home.

In the event of an overflow, Northcutt Elementary is on standby to receive students from Oliver if necessary. If full power is restored prior to the end of the school day, the students will be returned to Oliver Elementary School.
