Clayton County Public Schools proudly celebrated the retirement of Dr. Anthony W. Smith on February 19, 2026, honoring nearly four decades of visionary leadership, service, and innovation.
The distinguished ceremony brought together students, staff, community leaders, elected officials, and partners to reflect on Dr. Smith’s enduring impact on academic excellence, organizational growth, and the Clayton County community. Highlights included special student performances, tributes from district and state leaders, remarks from Interim Superintendent Dr. Douglas Hendrix Sr., and the premiere of “The Journey: The Impact,” a multi-chapter retirement tribute video capturing Dr. Smith’s legacy through five defining pillars.
The evening concluded with a heartfelt Legacy Address from Dr. Smith and a final musical tribute that closed the celebration on a joyful and affirming note.
