Here's What's Happening
Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) is aware that student-led demonstrations were conducted at several district high schools as students expressed concerns related to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity within the broader community. According to the CCPS Safety and Security Department, ICE has not shown up on any of our school campuses.
Superintendent/CEO Dr. Anthony W. Smith affirmed the district’s commitment to respecting student expression while upholding a safe educational environment.
“Clayton County Public Schools remains committed to safeguarding the well-being of every student entrusted to our care,” stated Dr. Smith. “We acknowledge our students’ desire to express their concerns and will continue to ensure that such activities occur safely and respectfully, consistent with the school district’s code of conduct,” said Dr. Smith.
Overall, the demonstrations observed remained peaceful and orderly. District officials, in coordination with CCPS Safety & Security personnel, actively monitored all campuses to ensure the continued safety of students and staff and maintained normal school operations.
