Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) is pleased to announce the successful hosting of the first Governmental Alliance Meeting of the 2024-2025 school year. The event, co-chaired by Dr. Douglas Hendrix Sr., Senior Deputy Superintendent-Chief of Staff for CCPS, and Mr. Detrick Stanford, Chief Operating Officer for Clayton County, took place on August 28, 2024, at the S. Truett Cathy Professional Learning Center in Jonesboro, Georgia. The meeting brought together a diverse coalition of stakeholders from government, education, community, and faith-based sectors, all united by a common
goal: to help shape the future of every student within the Clayton County School District.

The Governmental Alliance aims to create equitable educational opportunities, foster community engagement, and inspire lifelong success for all students. As the event's moderator, Dr. Ebony Lee, Chief of Communications, highlighted that each participating entity plays a crucial role in realizing the CCPS Portrait of a Graduate, which reflects the skills and dispositions needed for today’s workforce and as a contributing community member. Dr. Douglas Hendrix Sr. further emphasized, "Together, we will ensure that every learner achieves their full potential and contributes meaningfully to a thriving, inclusive society." Dr. Douglas Hendrix Sr. and Mr. Detrick Stanford provided a thorough explanation of the Governmental Alliance’s vision, mission, endeavors, and areas of focus, highlighting the vital collaboration among the
school system, government, and community, and the importance of remaining consistent and solution-driven. The agenda continued with a presentation by Dr. Delphia Young, CCPS Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning and Strategic Improvement, who reviewed key community and academic data, infusing concrete examples to highlight the critical need for collaboration. The meeting concluded with an interactive discussion, where participants shared how their organization or department could contribute to improving performance outcomes, and the next steps for planning and action were
outlined.

As Clayton County Public Schools continues to champion student and community success through these
collaborative efforts, the district extends its gratitude to all participants of the Governmental Alliance for
being an instrumental part in helping us build a better tomorrow, today! We thank Mr. Detrick Stanford for
his support in co-chairing this coalition with Dr. Douglas Hendrix Sr., and we thank all dignitaries for their
commitment to continue working together to advance the Clayton County Community!
