Here's What's Happening

The Clayton County Public Schools family mourns the loss of one of our own, Ramon “RJ” Jett, a first-grade student at Harper Elementary School.

Over the past couple of days, members of the Clayton County community, neighboring jurisdictions, and public safety agencies galvanized extensive search efforts and mobilized resources in an attempt to locate the student. Following recent reports, we are deeply saddened by the tragic outcome and the devastating loss felt across our school district and broader community.

The district’s Crisis Response Team will continue providing counseling and support services to the students' family, as well as to school and district administrators, during this difficult time. As this incident remains an active investigation being led by the Clayton County Police Department, district officials will not offer additional statements regarding this incident.

The Clayton County Public Schools family extends its deepest condolences to the family and all those impacted by this tragedy. We respectfully ask for everyone to honor the family’s privacy as they grieve the unimaginable loss of their beloved child.
