Here's What's Happening
During the Clayton County Board of Education (CCBOE) Regular Meeting held on Monday, June 2, the Board formally adopted the proposed Fiscal Year 2026 (FY2026) Budget, which was tentatively adopted on April 28, 2025. The budget recommendation was the subject of two public hearings held to obtain citizen input.
“Preparing this budget involved much discussion and planning as we looked to a future of difficult and uncertain economic conditions,” said Dr. Anthony W. Smith, Superintendent/CEO of Schools. “I thank Board members for their support as we continue to provide a positive workplace for our employees and a safe learning environment for our students.”
The final adopted consolidated budget of $1.5 billion includes $749.2 million in general fund expenditures. The budget is based on a tentative millage rate of 19.6 mills.
The FY2026 budget includes a $1,500 salary increase for all employees across all salary grades. The increase will range from .8% to 6%, depending on the employee’s compensation grade. It also includes a one-time $1,000 Loyalty Incentive payment for all full-time 2024-2025 employees who return to the district for the 2025-2026 school year and a $500 Loyalty Incentive for all part-time employees who return to the district for the 2025-2026 school year. This incentive will be disbursed at the end of August 2025.
The adopted budget is expected to be posted on the district’s website, www.clayton.k12.ga.us, at a later date.
