Here's What's Happening
In celebration of Women’s History Month, Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) Women in Leadership hosted the Inaugural Women of Power Conference on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Mundy’s Mill High School, located at 9652 Fayetteville Road in Jonesboro, Georgia. The event, which was scheduled from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m., was designed to support women who are seeking employment or better employment opportunities to bolster their economic status.
Upon arrival at the venue, women were enthralled by the exquisite transformation of the Mundy’s Mill High School gymnasium into a beautiful boutique experience, one reflective of designer suits and separates, shoes, perfume, jewelry, and more. Smooth jazz melodies wafted through the air as guests indulged in a sumptuous breakfast spread, setting the stage for a day of enlightenment and empowerment.
Dr. Ebony T. Lee, CCPS Chief Communications Officer, opened the event by greeting guests and introducing the featured speaker, Ms. Sabrina Hill, CCPS Board Member, representing District 7, who brought forth a powerful and inspirational message. Ms. Hill described women as a “tapestry of courage, boldness, and intelligence,” and continued by emphasizing, “Relationships and bonds [among women] are essential because it is out of these relationships that opportunities are created. We must recognize the power we hold in uplifting each other.” Ms. Hill included several allusions to trailblazing women of the past who demonstrated what she noted as “Qualities of Powerful Women,” which include: faithfulness, wisdom, leadership, vision, humility, and compassion. Ms. Hill's stirring message, punctuated by references to historical trailblazers, left an indelible impression on all present, earning her a well-deserved standing ovation.
