Here's What's Happening
Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) successfully held the second meeting of the Governmental Alliance on Wednesday, September 26, 2024. Co-chaired by Dr. Douglas Hendrix Sr., Senior Deputy Superintendent-Chief of Staff for CCPS, and Mr. Detrick Stanford, Chief Operating Officer for Clayton County, the meeting continued to strengthen collaboration among government, education, and community leaders with a shared mission: Improving outcomes for Clayton County students.
Building on the momentum from the first meeting held in August, the alliance reviewed eight critical focus areas, including Education Improvement, Resource Sharing, Community Engagement, Workforce Development, Social Services Integration, Infrastructure Development, Equity and Inclusion, and Emergency Preparedness. These areas serve as a roadmap for collaborative action to enhance student success, community well-being, and systemic improvement.
During the meeting, participants - including student leaders - discussed the next steps for implementing key initiatives, which included establishing clear objectives, building strong partnerships, and allocating resources effectively. The group emphasized the importance of maintaining open lines of communication, regular progress monitoring, and adapting to challenges as they arise.
