Here's What's Happening

Updated

On November 12, 2024, the CCPS Department of Fine Arts hosted 140 visual arts students at the 1st CCPS High School Art Workshop. The Fine Arts Department collaborated with Arts Clayton to host the workshop, offering a variety of visual art classes to local high school students. The workshop featured diverse artists and mediums for our students to experience.

Classes were offered in mural painting, drawing, ceramics, and folk art painting. Sessions were led by artists in the community and around the state of Georgia. Students were able to collaborate firsthand with these artists as well as fellow art students from around the county. Participating schools included: Drew High School, Elite Scholars, Forest Park High School, Jonesboro High School, Lovejoy High School, Mount Zion High School, Mundy’s Mill High School, North Clayton High School, Riverdale High School, and Stilwell School of the Arts. The workshop featured sessions in:

  • Clay Mask Sculpting - Artists - Jerri Todd and Tonyia Johnson

  • Street Folk Art - Artist - Kyle Brooks, Black Cat Tips

  • Drawing - Artist - Margaret Verrel Holcombe

  • Mural Painting - Artist - Denise Wood

The CCPS Department of Fine Arts would like to extend thanks to Kaysie Lazzaro and the staff of Arts Clayton, Harvest Baptist Tabernacle, and all of our dedicated visual arts teachers and incredibly talented students for making this event a huge success. We look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come.
