JONESBORO - Friday, August 15, 2025, was a morning filled with  excitement and surprise as Clayton County Public Schools’ (CCPS) Teacher  of the Year patrol traveled to Charles R. Drew High School to honor Ms. Miranda Scott, a teacher of Business Education, as the 2025-2026 district-wide Teacher of the Year!

Accompanied by members of the selection committee, school system administrators, and an assortment of cameras, Dr. Anthony W. Smith, CCPS  Superintendent/CEO of Schools, congratulated Ms. Scott on being selected. Dr. Smith joined Ms. Ramielle Moorer, the CCPS 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year from Riverdale Middle, in presenting Ms. Scott with a bouquet of  flowers and balloons. The announcement was made in Ms. Scott’s classroom during the school day.

Ms. Scott was selected from a group of six district finalists. The other finalists were: Ms. Daniella Allen, a Fourth Grade teacher at Marshall Elementary School, Ms. Kennethia Keyton, a Gifted teacher at Smith Elementary School, Ms. Jazzmine Nalls, a Physical Education teacher at Mundy's Mill Middle School, Dr. Thomasina Neely-Chandler, a teacher of Chorus at Sequoyah Middle School, and Mr. Marcus West , a Social Studies teacher at North Clayton Middle School.

Ms. Scott now moves to the next level in the Georgia Teacher of the Year selection process. She must complete and submit state application materials. The statewide Teacher of the Year will be announced this spring.

Ms. Scott will join with school-level Teachers of the Year and other 2025-2026 CCPS Employees of the Year for a special recognition program scheduled for Saturday, September 13, 2025.
