Here's What's Happening
As we conclude our observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) proudly highlights the courageous journeys of those within our school community who have been affected by breast cancer and other forms of cancer.
This year, we are honored to debut a special video featuring Dr. Malika Gonzales, Principal at Lake City Elementary School, as she shares her personal experience with breast cancer. We invite you to watch her inspiring story produced by the CCPS production team and read more about her testimony in the Clayton News Daily feature, published on October 2, 2024, capturing her strength and resilience.
On Monday, October 21, 2024, CCPS Board of Education Chair Ms. Jessie Goree recognized several members of our community who have battled cancer or supported loved ones through these challenging times (photo attached). We extend our heartfelt appreciation to each of them for their bravery, perseverance, and compassion.
As a district, we remain deeply committed to raising awareness, offering unwavering support, and fostering a community built on empathy, strength, and hope. We stand united in honoring those who fight with courage and those who offer steadfast support—reminding each other that no one is alone in their journey. Together, we create a community that shines a light on resilience, healing, and the power of unity.
