Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) proudly hosted its annual Georgia Studies Quiz Bowl this past Saturday, March 22, 2025, bringing together middle school students eager to showcase their knowledge of Georgia’s rich history. The event took place at the S. Truett Cathy Professional Learning Center on Battle Creek Road in Jonesboro, where students, educators, and community members gathered for a day of friendly competition and academic excellence.

Organized by Secondary Lead Teachers Ms. Briana Glenn and Ms. Letitia Thornton from the Secondary Social Studies Department, the Georgia Studies Quiz Bowl serves as an engaging way to prepare students for the upcoming Georgia Milestones Assessment System (GMAS) exam while fostering excitement around the state’s history. Ten middle school teams from across the district competed head-to-head, answering challenging questions to test their understanding of key historical events, figures, and facts.

After a series of intense rounds, the top three teams emerged victorious:

  • 1st Place: G.P. Babb Middle School

  • 2nd Place: Morrow Middle School

  • 3rd Place: Rex Mill Middle School

CCPS extends a special thank you to the Clayton County Public Schools Foundation, Inc. for generously providing gifts for the winners. We also express our gratitude to all students, educators, and community members who made this event a success.

Congratulations to all participants for their hard work and dedication! As students continue preparing for their exams, CCPS encourages them to embrace every learning opportunity and push through any challenges they may face. We look forward to seeing you at the next Quiz Bowl!
