Here's What's Happening
Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) is thrilled to announce that Ebony Austin, Owner of Nouveau Bar & Grill, presented a generous check donation of $20,000 to the Majestic Marching Cardinals (MMC) during a ceremony held at the Douglas Brothers Gymnasium on Monday, November 11, 2024. This contribution will greatly support the band's fundraising efforts as they prepare for their performance in the world-renowned Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
As part of the ceremony, the MMC showcased their musical talent with a variety of musical selections, offering a preview of the performances to come during their trip. The band’s journey to New York will include performing in front of a global audience at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, experiencing Broadway shows, and enjoying Thanksgiving dinner on the Hudson River. The donation will help ensure that the band members have a grand experience while proudly representing Clayton County Public Schools.
“We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of Ms. Austin and Nouveau Bar & Grill,” said Lynel Goodwin, Band Director of the Majestic Marching Cardinals. “Her generosity not only helps us fulfill our dream of performing in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade but also ensures that our students have a memorable and enriching experience. This is an opportunity they will cherish forever.”
Principal Tenisha Bailey of Jonesboro High School also expressed her gratitude. “Ms. Austin’s continued support of our students is invaluable. Her partnership with the JHS Band highlights the power of community involvement and the lasting impact it can have on our students. We are excited for the MMC as they prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Send-Off Event for Band’s NYC Journey
Jonesboro High School invites the community to a special send-off for the Majestic Marching Cardinals as they head to New York City to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The program will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. at Jonesboro High School. School District, Elected, Community, and Faith Leaders will share words of congratulations and encouragement.
At 9:00 a.m., the band will depart with a law enforcement escort along Mt. Zion Blvd to Highway 138, turning onto Tara Blvd. Supporters are encouraged to line the route with signs and well wishes. Join us as we celebrate the Majestic Marching Cardinals and wish them success on this monumental journey.
