Here's What's Happening

🎉🌎 Hispanic Heritage Month Is Here! 🌎🎉

Dear Families,

We are excited to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month at Michelle Obama STEM Academy!

Throughout the month, our students will have opportunities to celebrate, learn about, and appreciate the rich cultures, traditions, history, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. ❤️💛💚💙

To kick off our celebration, students have TWO fun at-home challenges they can complete with their families! 🎨✨

🎨 CHALLENGE #1: Hispanic Heritage Through Art

Poster Contest

Students are invited to create a drawing or poster celebrating Hispanic/Latino culture. They may choose to highlight:

Flags & countries
🏛️ Famous landmarks
🎶 Music & dance
🌮 Foods & traditions
⭐ Notable Hispanic/Latino figures
💖 A message celebrating cultural pride

📅 Due: Monday, September 14
Please send your student's artwork to school. Artwork will be displayed as part of our schoolwide Hispanic Heritage Month celebration!

🌟 CHALLENGE #2: Hispanic Heritage Hero

Choose a notable Hispanic/Latino person who has made an important contribution to the world.

Students should create a mini-poster that includes:

👤 Their name
🖼️ A picture or drawing
🌎 Their Hispanic/Latino heritage
🏆 A key accomplishment or contribution

📅 Due: Monday, September 14
Projects will be featured in our schoolwide Hispanic Heritage Month display!

💃🎶 WEEK 2: MOVEMENT & EXPRESSION

📅 Wednesday, September 16
⏰ 5:00 PM–6:00 PM
💃 Hispanic Movement Day!

Get ready to move, groove, and celebrate! 🎉

Students & Parents will have the opportunity to learn a traditional Hispanic dance and experience the rhythm and energy of Latin culture. 🎶💃🌎

This will be a fun opportunity for our students to celebrate culture through music, movement, and expression!

💡 Let's Celebrate Together!

We encourage families to work together, be creative, and learn something new about Hispanic/Latino culture and history. We can't wait to see our students' creativity and celebrate the amazing people and cultures they choose to highlight! 🎨🌎❤️

¡Celebremos juntos! 🎉
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!
